Reenactor and Living History Liaison Committee

The purposes of the SAR Reenactor and Living History Liaison Committee is (a) to give public recognition to Revolutionary War period historical reenactment and living history organizations for their work in public education; (b) to increase public awareness of Revolutionary War site marking and preservation; (c) to encourage historical accuracy of appearance and performance; (d) to establish liaison between SAR chapters and the reenactor community for mutual support in furthering Revolutionary War education programs; and (e) to encourage SAR members to participate in reenactments and living history events and programs to improve their understanding of the American Revolution and its context.

• 29-30 August 2026 – Signature Reenactment Event: Fleet & Fortification:  The Science of Defense at Fort Ticonderoga, NY.  Examine Americans work outfitting armed vessels Lake Champlain and entrenching strategic locations across the Ticonderoga camp.  Location: 102 Fort Ti Rd., Ticonderoga NY.
• 9 September 2026 – The U.S. Mint is launching a new series of 250^th themed coins and the Minute Man National Historical Park, 210 North Great Road, Lincoln, MA has been selected as the location to announce the new Dime.  There will be a ceremony at 10 am and a selected unit of reenactors will be firing a ceremonial volley.  Ceremony will last about 45 minutes.
• 11-13 September 2026 – Return to Fort at No. 4, Charlestown, NH.  American forces man the Fort this year.  This event was the muster point for the New Hampshire troops that marched from Crown Point to the Battle of Bennington.  Battles at 11:00 am and 2:00 pm.  Location: 267 Springfield Road, Charlestown, NH.
• 12-13 September 2026 – Before the Siege, Yorktown 1781.This event is part of the statewide Virginia 250 celebration.  Experience daily life under the occupation of Crown Forces.  Watch British soldiers drill, fortify positions and prepare defenses as costumed interpreters portray camp life and townspeople carry on their routines. Times 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.  Location: 410 Main Street, Yorktown, VA.
• 19 September 2026, Battle at Chadds Ford -Historic Chadds Ford Days.  Chadds Ford Historical Society hosts an event to commemorate and reenact the Battle of Brandywine September 11, 1777, the largest single day battle of the American Revolution – with an estimated 30,000 troops.  Times 10 am – 5 pm.  Location:  The Chadds Ford Historical Society, Barn Visitors Center, 1736 Creek Road, Chadds Ford, PA.
• 19-20 September 2026 – Signature Reenactment Event: Lodging as the Nature of the Campaign will Admit at Fort Ticonderoga.  Watch soldiers of the Northern Continental Army build huts at Ticonderoga, just as they did 250 years ago atop Liberty Hill.  Location: 102 Fort Ti Rd., Ticonderoga, NY.
• 20 September, Salisbury 250^th Parade and Festival, Salisbury, MA. The main events run along Beach Road to the Town Common, featuring historic demonstrations and the annual Salisbury Days celebration.
• 25-26 September 2026 – Rebels and Redcoats – Tactical Event 0 Fort Loudoun, PA.  This is an event put on by reenactors for reenactors.  No Public at this event.  The tactical will commence on Saturday at 9:00 am.  Event ends at noon on Sunday.  Location: 1720 North Brooklyn Road, Fort Loudoun, PA
• 26 September 2026 – Sudbury Colonial Faire (Wayside Inn) from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm located at 72 Wayside Inn Road in Sudbury, MA.  The faire has a colonial encampment, craft and militia demonstrations, and contradancing.
• 26-27 September 2026 – The Vermilion Valley Encampment, annual Revolutionary War living-history reenactment held at the Forest Glen Preserve Near Westville and Danville, IL.  Sponsored by the North West Territory Alliance. Event features tactical battle demonstrations, period camp life, drills, fashion shows and traditional pioneer crafts.  Location: Pioneer Homestead Area, Forest Glen Preserve, 20301 E 900 North Rd., Westville, IL
• 9-11 October 2026 – Special 250^th Conference “Arnold’s Defeat or Ultimate Victory?  Perspectives on the 1776 Campaign”.  On the 250^th anniversary of the Battle of Valcour Island, Fort Ticonderoga will host a distinguished panel of scholars to reflect on the campaign of 1776 on Lake Champlain.  The panelist will detail, and debate, the critical actions of the campaign to better understand the impact of October 1776.  Location: 102 Fort Ti Rd., Ticonderoga, NY.
• 10 -11 October 2026 – National Park Service at Minute Man National Historical Park, is hosting their annual Preparing for Winter/Preparing for War event at Hartwell Tavern.  This event focuses on the regular seasonal changes to household management and the growing demands of war.  This year the focus will be 1776.  Looking for civilian interpreters and military.  Military impressions will include both Massachusetts militia and Continental Army.
• 10-11 October 2026 – Colonial Market Days, Lebanon, IN.  Merchants for 18^th Century reenacting and demonstrators and craftsmen from across the Midwest will be displaying their wares.  Military and militia units will be camping in the park to teach the public about life as a soldier and camp follower.  Location:  Abner Longley Park, 1601 Longley Dr., Lebanon, IN
• 11 October 2026 – Commemoration of the 250^th Anniversary of the Battle of Valcour Bay. A day of hands-on activities, a dramatic account of the events during the Battle of Valcour Bay and tours of a new exhibit. Times 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. Location: Lake Champlain Maritime Museum, 4472 Basin Harbor Rd., Vergennes, VT
• 17-18 October 2026 – Yorktown Victory Celebration held at the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown, featuring artillery firings, interpretive programs, and living history.  Times: 9:00 am- 5:00 pm.  Location: American Revolution Museum at Yorktown, 200 Water Street, Yorktown, VA
• 23-25 October 2026 – The 250^th Battle of White Plains, Ward Pound Ridge Reservation, Reservation Rd., Pound Ridge, Westchester County, N.Y. Sponsored by the British Brigade, Brigade of the American Revolution & 8^th Pennsylvania Regiment. https://www.brigade.org/whiteplains2026
• 24-25 October 2026 – Feast of the Hunter’s Moon, at Fort Ouiatenon Historic Park in West Lafayette, IN.  Hours 9 am to 4 pm.  This historical reenactment recrates an 18^th century gathering of French settlers and Native Americans.  Military drills, music, dance and costumed interpretation.  Location: Fort Ouiatenon, 3129 S. River Road, West Lafayette, IN
• 24-25 October 2026 – Battle Reenactment: Hold the Line for Liberty, Fort Ticonderoga.  This reenactment will recreate one of the Continental Army victories of 1776 that occurred at the same time as one of its greatest defeats.  The moment soldiers and militiamen at Ticonderoga held the line for Liberty. Location: 102 Fort Ti Rd., Ticonderoga, NY.
• 7 November 2026 – Living History Event: Veterans Day Weekend, Fort Ticonderoga.  Salute to Veterans in defense of the United States beginning with the citizen-soldiers of 1776.  Witness the drive to reenlist veterans for campaigns to come and the challenge to prepare Ticonderoga’s defenses for the next year.  Location: 102 Fort Ti Rd., Ticonderoga, NY.
• 14-15 November 2026 – The 246^th Anniversary of the Southern Campaign 1780 Battle of Camden will feature a major living history event and reenactment Battle of Hanging Rock on Saturday and the Battle of Camden on Sunday).  Location:  The Meeting Place, 1208 Keys Lane, Kershaw, SC.
• 7 December 2026 – Battle of Great Bridge, the 251^st anniversary commemoration and reenactment of the Battle of Great Bridge take place at Battlefield Park South in Chesapeake, VA.  Tactical reenactments, a colonial market fair and living history demonstrations marking the 1775 patriot victory.  Times: Saturday 10:00 am to 4:00 pm and Sunday 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.  Location: Battlefield Park South, 120 Reservation Road, Chesapeake, VA.
• 11-13 December 2026 – Signature Reenactment Event – SAR250 Washington Crossing and the Ten Crucial Days National Event, The SAR250 Events are all three days. The day of the reenactment is Sunday, December 13. Times: 8:30 am – 3:00 pm.  Location: Washington Crossing Historic Park (PA), 1112 River Road, Washington Crossing, NJ.  The reenactment muster is at 11:00 am and begins at noon.  The First Crossing is 2:00 pm. • 19 December 2026 – Battle Reenactment: “Riot” Fort Ticonderoga.  Regional tensions within the Continental Army explode in this event, as Pennsylvanians turn on their fellow New England soldiers.  The riot between ‘Yankees’ and ‘Buckskins’ will be recreated, revealing the humanity of soldiers willing to stand up for liberty. Location: 102 Fort Ti Rd., Ticonderoga, NY.
• 25-27 December 2026 – The 250^th Anniversary of the Crossing, the battles of Trenton, Assunpink and Princeton, commemorating the exact 250^th milestone. Times: Noon to 3 pm.  Location: Washington Crossing Historic Park, PA. For more information, go to TenCrucialDays250.org
