News & EventsNews | EventsNewsA Book on Col. John HasletJohn Haslet was born and educated in northern Ireland. He emigrated to America and settled in Dover (now the capital of Delaware) serving as a pastor and physician. In anticipation of possible conflict with Great Britain the newly-formed state of Delaware raised a regiment. Haslet trained it well, and Haslet's Regiment fought valiently at the battles of Long Island and White Plains. Haslet was shot and killed while rallying the American troops at the battle of Princeton on January 3, 1777. His regiment became the Delaware Continentals, which continued his tradition of courage and tenacity throughout the war. Author Fred B. Walters has written the first book ever about this hero of the American Revolution. The book is described further at John Haslet, A Useful One (Bookmasters, Mansfield OH, 2005) TopEventsThe Delaware Society
