Weeklong event during America’s 250th anniversary will bring hundreds of members to Greensboro for meetings, historic tours, and Revolutionary War commemorations.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — The National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) will welcome members from across the United States and abroad to Greensboro, North Carolina, for its 136th Annual Congress, July 10–16, 2026, at the Sheraton Greensboro at Four Seasons and Koury Convention Center.

Held during America’s 250th anniversary year, the weeklong event will bring together hundreds of delegates to conduct the Society’s annual business, elect national officers, recognize outstanding youth and education programs, and celebrate the patriotism and sacrifice of the men and women who secured American independence. Greensboro was selected as the host city because of its rich Revolutionary War history and its connection to the Southern Campaign.

Throughout the week, attendees will have opportunities to experience some of North Carolina’s most significant Revolutionary War and historic sites. Planned excursions include visits to Guilford Courthouse National Military Park, Historic Hillsborough, Old Salem, and Replacements, Ltd. The Congress will also feature multiple Patriot grave-marking ceremonies honoring Revolutionary War Patriots at historic cemeteries across North Carolina. Many of these ceremonies are open to the public.

The National Congress serves as the Society’s annual meeting, bringing together leaders and members from across the country to conduct official business, install national officers, present awards, and celebrate the organization’s mission of promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and educating future generations.

The Sons of the American Revolution is a nonprofit, nonpartisan lineage society dedicated to preserving American history, promoting patriotism, and educating future generations about the founding principles of the United States. Founded in 1889, the Society has nearly 40,000 members worldwide.
