President General Joseph W. Dooley's presentation to the American Legion

The following is President General Joseph W. Dooley's presentation and greetings to the American Legion during their 95th National Convention in Houston, Texas.

New Addition to the SAR Library 
 
The National Society, Sons and Daughters of Antebellum Planters, 1607-1861 was organized on 17 Oct 1997 in Washington, D.C.

George Washington Exhibition to Open at NSSAR Headquarters

 “The Many Faces of George Washington,” a national travelling exhibition that examines the multi-dimensional, real-life man behind the myth, opens at the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution on November 9, 2013 and will be on display through December 16, 2013 at its headquarters on 1000 S. 4th Street, Louisville, KY, 40203.

Full Results of 2012 Americanism & President General’s Streamer Contests

The NSSAR Americanism Committee is please to publish the Full Results for the Allene Wilson Groves Americanism (chapters), Liberty Bell Americanism (state societies), and the President General’s Streamer and President General’s Cup contests for 2012. The winners were recognized at the 2013 NSSAR Annual Congress in Kansas City.

Veterans Oral History Project Workshop at SAR Genealogical Research Library

 

As part of the 3rd Saturday programming series, on Saturday, August 17, 2013 Ron Burkhart SgtMaj  USMC Ret. of the Indiana Society SAR led a workshop on the Library of Congress Veteran’s History Project.  According to the Library of Congress (LOC), “The Veterans History Project of the American Folklife Center collects, preserves, and makes accessible the personal accounts of American war veterans so that future generations may hear directly from veterans and better understand the realities of war.” 

 

The Induction of a Doolitte Raider and his grandsons

Col. Richard “Dick” Cole, one of the last four surviving Doolittle Raiders, and his grandsons, Elliot and Nathan Chal were inducted into the Simon Kenton Chapter, Kentucky Society on Wednesday, August 28th at the SAR Genealogical Research Library in Louisville, Kentucky.

Integrated Library Solution Live at SAR Genealogical Research Library

On June 21, 2013 a new cataloguing system went live at the SAR Genealogical Research Library in Louisville, Kentucky. The new library system, Integrated Library Solution, was purchased this spring by the SAR Library Committee. While the previous system was also provided by The Library Corporation (TLC) this new software is a major upgrade and will significantly benefit library patrons. Many libraries across the country currently use this software, including the DAR.

The State Challenge Campaign

The State Challenge Campaign:

The State Challenge Campaign will recognize SAR State Societies who have reached the level of having 20% of their members donate to the SAR Foundation at an average level of $250 per society member. Those state societies that qualify will have their names imprinted on a plaque hung in the new headquarters building.
