
Zbigniew Brzezinski
has been awarded the
in recognition of his outstanding achievements of National importance in the field of international relations. Dr. Brzezinski has advocated for the national interests of the United States in our relationships with foreign countries for the past forty years, and he has educated successive generations of Americans in college and graduate school who are studying international relations. Dr. Brzezinski has advised American Presidents, both Democratic and Republican. He has always been a foreign policy realist, who places the best interests of the United States above partisan political considerations.

VASSAR President Joe Dooley presented Dr. Zbigniew Brzezinski the SAR Gold Good Citizenship Medal in the Counselor's office in Washington, DC on November 13. Afterwards, they discussed Brzezinski's latest book, Second Chance, a story of wasted opportunity and squandered prestige: a critique of the last three U.S. presidents' foreign policy.
