2008 VASSAR Annual Meeting

President General Bruce Wilcox installed the 2008 VASSAR Officers during the annual Awards Ceremony at the Virginia Capitol on Saturday afternoon.  (L-R) PG Wilcox, Chancellor Walt Sheffield, Treasurer Jeff Sweeney, 1st Vice President Bill Simpson, 2nd Vice President Bob Bowen, Secr3etary Kent Webber, 3rd Vice President Mark Brennan, Registrar Dick Bidwell, Surgeon Ken Wallenborn, Chaplain Nick Minnich.  Missing are President Art Batten who was installed that night and Historian Bob Schmidt who was vacationing in California.

(L) President General Bruce Wilcox administers the oath of office to VASSAR President Art Batten while immediate past president Joe Dooley observes. (R) Joe Dooley accepts a "parting shot" gift from the Executive Committee in recognition of his outstanding leadership and guidance during the 2007-08 SAR year.

    CHAPTERS OF THE YEAR

(L) Ed Claiborn accepts the "2007 Best Small Chapter Streamer" on behalf of the Rockbridge Volunteers Chapter. (R) Chapter President Bobby McConnell accepts the "2007 Best Medium-Size Chapter Streamer" on behalf of the Overmountain Men Chapter. The Overmountain Men Chapter also won the award in 2006.

(L) Chapter President Tom Speelman accepts the "2007 Best Large Chapter Streamer" on behalf of the Fairfax Resolves Chapter. (R) Chapter President Ken Wallenborn accepts the "2007 Best Very Large Chapter Streamer" on behalf of the

Thomas Jefferson Chapter. The Thomas Jefferson Chapter also won the award in 2006.
