FINDING A NAME on
the SAR PATRIOT INDEX CD
Click on your Browser's (Windows Explorer or. Netscape as the case may be)
"Back" button to return to the previous page
Underlined words may be clicked on for an illustration of the point.
- The Name List Screen is the first screen display
when Family Explorer is opened.
- Enter the surname and given names in the appropriate fields and then click
on GO TO
- The name you entered (or the nearest one to it if the name you entered is not on the CD)
will appear, highlighted, at the top of the list of names.
- Note that birth date and location appear to the
right of the name. No birth date or location shown indicates
that there was no information in the Patriot Index due to lack or information
on the source document or that the person may be living.
- The birth date/location may be changed to show Spouse, Parents or PIN Number if desired.
Click on the Show button at the bottom of the screen
to change what is shown.
- The PIN number is a record identification number and it has no use other
than to retrieve a record on this CD at a later date. When a new edition
of the Patriot Index is published this number will change. It should never
be used as a permanent reference number.
- In the name field a pound sign indicates that the person is
a Revolutionary War Patriot who is an ancestor of a member of The Sons of the
American Revolution.
- An asterisk preceeding the name indicates that there is a
picture attached to the record.
- To view the complete, individual record for a person highlight the person and then
click on the View Button at the bottom of the screen.
- A Help Button in the lower right portion of the screen is always
available with valuable help information.
