Chapter Picnic

The annual pig roast and family picnic of the PCC was held on June 1 at Fenimore Woods in Wayne.  We were blessed by a fine day and the attendance was near 80.   We were joined by many friends from the DAR and CAR, while the CAR provided their usual well received program   The 100 pound pig turned out to be sufficient with only a pound or two left over.  It was well prepared and accompanied by hot dogs, potato and coleslaw salads, desserts and several dozen deviled eggs provided by Janice Showler, which disappeared rather quickly.  The wine bar was also a nice touch as we consumed 6 bottles.

President Sanborn presented an award to Phil Anders for twenty five years membership in SAR. An award of appreciation was given to drummer P. McManee for his assistance to the PCC Color Guard.   All the past chapter presidents in attendance were introduced (9 of them) and applauded for their guidance and leadership. Our first shot at a flag retirement ceremony hosted by Herb Armstrong was well received after an initial problem with ignition was solved.

A great day--I don't know how it could have been better.
