CONSTITUTION

Article I, NAME AND STATUS

Section 1. The name of this Society shall be The Oregon Society of the Sons of the American Revolution (hereinafter, ORSSAR).

Section 2. The ORSSAR was organized on June 6, 1891, by charter from the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution (hereinafter, NSSAR), and said charter is incorporated by reference and made a part of this Constitution.

Section 3. ORSSAR is a voluntary, not-for-profit association chartered by the Congress of the United States by Title 36, Section 20a, United States Code, and is not a partnership, syndicate, joint venture, or other such organization wherein individual members are liable for the acts of other members without express authorization. The liability of individual members of the ORSSAR is intended to be to the extent of their individual membership dues only, and nothing in this Constitution is to be interpreted as authorizing any member to act as agent or otherwise for any other member and thereby establish liability against an individual member by virtue of the acts of one or several members or in the name of the ORSSAR in excess of the member's share of paid-in surplus dues.
