Kentucky General Assembly Allocates $5 million to Support Buildout of SAR Education Center and Museum – National Society Sons of the American Revolution

The Education Center and Museum will be positioned on Louisville’s Historic Museum Row

(LOUISVILLE, KY) – The National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution (NSSAR) is excited to announce the Kentucky General Assembly has allocated $5 million in support of the buildout of the SAR Education Center and Museum (ECM) in downtown Louisville, KY. The ECM will educate and inspire the public about the American Revolution and the founding principles of the United States. It will allow the public to experience the events, debates and ideas which led to the Revolution, and allowed us to enshrine the ideals of liberty into our founding documents. The Education Center and Museum will also display the Society’s extensive collection of Revolutionary era artifacts and will be built within the existing space at the NSSAR HQ building at 809 West Main Street in Louisville.

SAR President General John Dodd remarked, “I would like to express our profound gratitude to the members of the Kentucky General Assembly for their support and commitment to this transformative project.” Dodd added, “In particular, I extend special thanks to State Representative Jason Nemes of Louisville for his outstanding leadership as he championed this project. Representative Nemes became aware of the project this past summer and immediately went to work to make this investment a reality. His dedication and passion have been instrumental in securing this vital funding, and we are deeply grateful for his steadfast partnership.”

The NSSAR has raised and committed $21.7 million (reference chart below) and will raise another $8.3 million for a total fundraising goal of $30 million to complete the Education Center and Museum.
