THE MINNESOTA SOCIETY
of the
SONS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION

The Minnesota Society of the Sons of the American Revolution (MNSSAR) is an historical, educational and patriotic organization. As descendants of Revolutionary War soldiers, we seek to preserve the memory of the sacrifices of those who achieved our liberty. We also promote respect for the institutions of American freedom and appreciation for the value of American citizenship, so that our hard-won liberty will be passed on to future generations.

The MNSSAR, the Minneapolis Chapter of the MNSSAR and the St. Paul Chapter of the MNSSAR sponsor several programs to recognize activities that exemplify the values of our Society. These programs include the presentation of Bronze Good Citizenship Medals for high school seniors who show excellence in scholarship and patriotism; Heroism Medals for citizens who show outstanding bravery; Eagle Scout Essay Contest awards for scouts who write exceptional historic and patriotic essays; Flag Certificates for businesses that fly the American flag; and ROTC Medals for cadets who show excellence in military bearing and leadership.

The MNSSAR holds four regular gatherings during the year. Saturday luncheon meetings are held in January and July to conduct the main business of the Society. Saturday luncheons are also held in February, in celebration of George Washington's birthday, and in September, in celebration of Constitution Day.
