General Information and Application Requirements
(Form 0910, last revised JUL 2008, original on blue paper) This one-sheet
pamphlet lists application fees and annual dues for the many categories of membership.

(Form 0911, last revised 1999 Sep, original has color photos) This one-page trifold
pamphlet describes the SAR, tells why someone should become a member, and describes
the many ways in which the SAR helps preserve our nation's heritage of liberty and
independence.

Requirements for Preparation of Applications
(Form 0912, last revised OCT 2003, original on green paper) This one-page trifold
pamphlet tells what to give the applicant, what sorts of documents are acceptable,
how to write data on the application, and how to cite the sources used.

(Form 0913, undated, original on white paper) This one-page trifold pamphlet has
two blank panels so that it may be folded, addressed, and mailed to prospects
without using envelopes.

The SAR Youth Registration / Junior Membership Program
NSSAR Search / Record Copy Request Form
This form is used to request that SAR headquarters staff do ONE of the following:
a) search for and send you the latest application filed on a specific patriot
ancestor
b) send you a "record" copy of the application for a specific member by name
or by national number. (A "record copy" is a copy of the approved
application, which has annotations that were made during the approval process.)
Instructions and restrictions are listed on the form, which allows printout as a
blank form or editing to fill in the blanks before printing.

Life Membership
Life Membership may now be purchased at a rate that depends on your age.
In November 2002 the fee scale was approved and it appears on the Life Membership
Application form.
Note: This fee covers the National dues only, so you will still
have to pay the State Society's annual fee to be an active member of the SAR.

membership affiliation to a new state.
Note: If you have paid National dues to the State which you are
leaving, you do not need to pay National dues for that same year to the State to which
you are transferring.

use the online Member Database system. This will allow for the changes to be
entered into the system more efficiently and make them readily available for other officers.

This is a ceremony of institution for a state Chapter of the SAR. This
entire ceremony is under the control and direction of the State Society in which
the Chapter to be instituted is located.

The Chaplain's Committee is compiling a directory of State Society Chaplains.
We plan to form a network of Clergy. The purpose of this directory will
be to facilitate communications from us, among chaplains and eventually to Chapter Chaplains.

The National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution (known hereafter as NSSAR) is a not for profit, tax-exempt
organization. Maintenance of its tax-exempt status is important for both continued financial stability, public and member
support. Therefore, the Internal Revenue Service, as well as other regulatory agencies, tax officials and other stakeholders
view the policy and operations of the SAR as a public trust, which is subject to scrutiny by and accountable to such authorities
as well as its constituents.

Minuteman Award
The highest award presented to a member by the National Society. It is
presented for distinguished service rendered to the SAR on the National level.
Members are selected by the Minuteman Committee from submitted applications.
The Committee is appointed by the President General from previous recipients of
the award. It is presented during the Annual Congress to no more than
six recipients per year. More information can be found in the SAR Handbook.
The Minuteman Nomination Form linked below is an executable program (500K in size,
takes two minutes to download at 28.8 KB). It will let you fill-in the
form on-screen, then print-out both form and data at the same time on 8.5 by 14
inch paper. You may save the data along with the program by using the
"Save As" option and using a unique name to save it.

Gold Good Citizenship Award Nomination Form
The Gold Good Citizenship Award is preseted for OUTSTANDING AND UNUSUAL
patriotic achievement and service of NATIONAL IMPORTANCE. It may
be presented only once to any individual. More information can be found
in the SAR Handbook.

Distinguished Service Medal Nomination Form
The hightest award that can be awarded by a State Society President during each
year of his term of office. It is presented to a Compatriot for distinguished
service rendered to the State Society. More information can be found

The Patriot Medal is awarded only by a State Society. The hightest award
given for service at the State or Chapter level. This award is presented
only to individuals and may be received ONLY once. More information

The SAR Color Guard Medal may be awarded for service to the Society at the National,
District, State Society and Chapter levels. Recipients may only receive

The Allene Wilson Groves Award and Liberty Bell contest has been broken down into
4 Chapter categories, by membership size: 1 to 49, 50 to 99, 100 to 199,
over 200, and two first place awards for State: 1 to 499; over 500 members.

Friends of the Library Application
The goal of the Friends of the SAR Library is to raise $150,000 for the Library
Endowment Fund. Also, the Society Chairman of the Friends of the SAR Library
will coordinate the donation of books, microfilms, etc. direct to the NSSAR Library
and will promote the NSSAR Library within his Society so that all SAR Members are
familiar with it and its programs.
