What is the Delaware Society?

Founded on Jan 29 of 1890, the Delaware Society was one of the first State Societies to be organized. Our first state president was Thomas Bayard, who had been the U.S. Secretary of State in 1885-1889. The Delaware Society now has four chapters and an active membership of about 350 members, or roughly one out of every 1,000 men in Delaware. This is the highest proportion of members to population of any SAR State Society in the U.S.
