Chairman's Comments

The Americanism Committee's first task this new millennium will be to formulate a National program to help the SAR Societies and Chapters to promote Americanism in their communities and schools.  There has been a great response to the call for programs already formulated and are currently being used to foster Americanism.  This committee decided to make a book and call it the Patriotic Education Tool Kit.  This will be available not only for NSSAR, but also to other patriotic and historical organizations.  Creation of the Tool Kit was accomplished by putting the programs on the SAR Web Network.   The Americanism Committee hopes that the Patriotic Education Tool Kit will be the instrument to promote Americanism by all the SAR Societies and Chapters throughout the country.

The Americanism Committee is greatly indebted to Larry H. Mylnechuk who volunteered to put the book together as editor.  Jack Haughton volunteered to be the Web Site Coordinator.  The Committee is very excited about the work these two are doing.  We are also looking forward to the use of the Tool Kit and its stimulation of the rebirth of the sprit of our Founding Fathers.

What ever we do, this is the message we must leave:

The United States is the symbol of Freedom under a constitutional government.   The heritage of every citizen is Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity that has become the envy of the people of the world.  The government of the people, by the people, and for the people was the hope and dream for which your ancestor put his or her life on the line.  It shall not perish from the earth unless we, the descendants, let that dream die.  I trust that you will make the sacrifice to keep alive the dream of your heritage.

Any of the information provided can be used by SAR Members, Chapters and State Societies for the betterment of the NSSAR and it's programs.
