8th Grade Historical Essay Contest

Sponsor/Contact:   Texas & Georgia Societies, SAR

Overview:  This is a well-drafted outline for a historical essay contest for students in the 8th grade.  The central theme for the essay contest will be established annually by the Chapter or by the NSSAR Americanism Committee prior to the Fall Trustee's meeting.  This program can be done on a state-wide, county-wide, or local basis.  The program contains a complete step-by-step planning guide for conducting the program.

Target Audience:  8th graders

Cost:  Costs will normally be limited to prizes and award certificates to be given out to student winners.  The Chapter may wish to add its own gifts or prizes.

Tips:  An important tip for this program is to appoint a chairperson who will supervise the process and help guide teachers and students through the various steps.
