The Tucson Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution was
chartered on 12 December, 1964.We currently serve all of Southern
Arizona and are the home Society for several current state officers
including the Vice President, several prior Presidents, and other
national and state committee chairs and members.
We recently (August, 2007) sponsored the Arizona Society’s
dedication of the SAR memorial plaque in the newly re-built
Tucson Presidio, honoring the contribution of the Spanish
soldados to the American Revolution.
We were honored to help host President General and Mrs. Bruce
Wilcox during their recent visit to Arizona.
Meetings are held monthly on the 3rd Saturday from
12 noon to ~2 p.m., except during summer and when there is a
conflicting State meeting (February, April, and November) as
members are encouraged to attend these. We meet generally
at El Parador Restaurant, 2744 E. Broadway in Tucson.
We have interesting speakers on a variety of subjects.
Recent topics include the Spanish soldados and their descendants,
Benjamin Franklin’s physics, Scottish antecedents to our major
documents, and Revolutionary War era medicine and the death of
George Washington.
Our activities include the JROTC and ROTC awards,
Eagle Scout awards, Celtic Festival participation, and especially
the Law Enforcement Awards, which are held in conjunction with
our annual meeting in January. Thanks to compatriot Warren
Alter, National Committee Chair, we lead the nation in this!
All SAR members, local or visiting, their wives, prospective members
and guests are welcome and encouraged to attend
our chapter meetings. We would love to have you join us!
