2012 Poster Contest Winners

Congratulations to the Ohio Society's Camp Charlotte Chapter on winning
First Place in the Americanism Elementary School Poster Contest. The
winning student is Miss Hannah Thompson, a fifth-grader at Court
Street Intermediate in Circleville, Ohio.  Her poster titled "The Battle
of Guilford Courthouse" competed against other student entries
representing 18 different states.
Entries were judged at the recently held Congress in Phoenix, Arizona. 
Members of the Americanism Committee were impressed with the beautifully
done maps and selected quotes by Major Gen. Nathanael Greene and Major
Gen. Lord Cornwallis. The aim of the contest is to stimulate interest in
American history in support of the established school curriculum.
The 2012 Second Place winner was Miss Molly Bradshaw of the California
Society. Bradshaw attends fifth grade at Weimar Hills School in Weimar,
California. Her sponsoring SAR chapter was Gold Country. The Gold Country
Chapter judged 620 entries before submitting her poster to National for
judging at Congress.
Mr. Ryan Weinstein of Athens, Texas took Third Place in the Americanism
Elementary School Poster Contest. Weinstein is a fourth grader at Athens
Christian Academy. His poster also depicted "The Battle of Guilford
Courthouse" and competed against 242 entries submitted to the Athens #54
Currently both the First Place and Second Place posters are now on
exhibit at National Headquarters in Louisville, Kentucky, This school
year visitors to Headquarters can view these exhibited posters that
illustrate a turning point in the American Revolution. The NSSAR
encourages all state societies to participate in next year's poster
contest celebrating "The Declaration of Independence."
