Each year the NSSAR Americanism Committee sponsors a poster contest for 4th-5th grade students. At this year's Congress the Americanism Committee voted to include third grade students reflecting an earlier introduction of the Revolutionary War curriculum in certain states.This year, the theme of the contest was the Battle of Cowpens.

Winners from each state society were displayed and voted on at the National Congress in Winston-Salem, NC. Posters were judged on their theme, originality, artistic merit and creativity, accuracy, and neatness. This year, 15 state societies participated in the contest.

• The first place winner was Caleb Griffith of Saluda, South Carolina, who received a $300 savings bond.
• Second and third place winners were Maddie Young from Yulee, Florida, and Norah Wilson from Westlake, Ohio, respectively. The second place winner received a $200 savings bond, while the third place winner received a $100 savings bond.
